29” x 17” x 2”
The Arrangement is a two-part ceramic work that explores societal expectations and the ways we attempt to fit within them. This tiled wall panel depicts a bouquet of flowers that, when viewed from directly in front, appears to sit inside its accompanying ceramic vessel. A slight shift in perspective breaks the illusion, revealing that the flowers and vessel are separate.
This illusion reflects how societal expectations, particularly those placed on women, can appear natural and orderly from a distance but begin to fall apart when applied to the complexities of real people and their lived experiences.
This tile panel is part of a larger work and is listed separately from its accompanying vessel.
